Flood Warning Issued for Norfolk Broads: Residents Urged to Act Now

Post by NBF »

People living in the Norfolk Broads are being told to "act now" as some flooding is expected tonight and during tomorrow morning.

The Environment Agency has this morning issued a red flood warning for the River Thurne, including Hickling Broad.

This warning comes after high tides in Great Yarmouth have restricted the river systems from allowing water to escape the Broads and therefore water levels are high.

Areas Most at Risk
The most at-risk places from the flooding, according to the Environment Agency, include:

* Ludham
* Repps
* Bastwick
* Potter Heigham
* New Bridge
* Hickling Heath
* The A149

Also, there is an amber flood alert issued for the Rivers Bure and Ant.

Official Guidance
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said:
"We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate. Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected. Take care on waterside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger."

Residents will be advised to be vigilant and prepared as conditions develop.
