Apparently the electric points have been switched off at Sutton Staithe once again.
I find it hard to understand why every boat toll payer should suffer because the Broads Authority are literally unable to supervise the area from social issues.
That is not a criticism but rather an observation.
If there are social problems in this area? Then the solution is obviously not to turn the power off and deny any other boater the use of these facilities.
Clearly there is a social problem in this area and the solutions are not in punishing other boaters.
The solution lies in confrontation of social problems and not burying heads in sand and pretending that turning off the power is going to change anything.
Did it work last year?...no!
The solution lies in monitoring the area, supervising the area and if somebody intends on mooring up for months at a time, then they need to be physically removed. It is that simple.
Stalham Staithe had people moor for three years and even at the town hall meetings, the general public were not allowed to talk to the individuals even though they were in the same room.
The solution is to physically remove boats that refuse to move and it is not the solution to deny every other boater electric access.
If the Broads Authority are not prepared to deal with social issues on the Norfolk Broads, then they need to pass the condition on to others..whether that be the police or the local council.
Either way...this is currently a major flunk
