£12 per night to moor at what has been a public staithe for centuries equates to £4,380 per annum when compared to standard private mooring fees..it is not boater's responsibility to support the Broads Authority. If it is a national park? then it is open to everyone and boaters should not be used as cash cows

A dispute has erupted in Reedham on the Norfolk Broads as villagers call for the suspension of newly introduced mooring charges on the River Yare, arguing the fees may be unlawful.

For over a century, overnight mooring at the quay in Reedham has been free, making the village one of the most popular stopovers for boaters along this stretch of the river. However, this season the Broads Authority (BA) implemented a £12 charge for mooring, sparking anger and concern among the boating community.

Many boaters have questioned the legality of the fees, with some arguing they undermine the long-standing tradition of free access. The quay not only offers more facilities than many other locations on the Yare but also serves as a convenient place to wait for suitable tides before crossing Breydon Water and navigating through Great Yarmouth.
