Norfolk Broads Water's Edge restaurant in Wroxham is on the brink of an exceptional transformation to save the business from its financial debacle.
A key restaurant right in the centre of Wroxham has taken a new direction that will save it from the threat of closure for a second time. Formerly known as The Bridge, it was doomed to close last autumn amid financial hardship but reopened five months later named Water's Edge. Today, the restaurant has a concept in the works for reshaping the future.
It is idyllically set on the Norfolk Broads adjacent to the River Bure, directly adjacent to the renowned Wroxham Bridge, and it may now have its upper floor transformed in an attempt to become four inviting holiday lodgings. The move is part of efforts to expand its revenue streams and thus make the picturesque site economically viable once again.
The Bridge played its swan song in September 2023, a time when increased energy costs made its operation insupportable. It was reborn with the unveiling of Water's Edge, doling out an array of classic culinary fish and chips, burgers, and steaks. But financial woes have re-emerged, casting doubt on the venue's profitability and viability.
As per the new plan, the upstairs dining area would be converted into four en-suite guest rooms including a shared communal space; the ground floor would stay as a dining room so that the place can serve the dual purpose of a B&B and a restaurant.
The whole adaptive strategy aims to bring new life into this enterprise in order to secure this Norfolk Broads riverside spot as one of the most popular for a few more years. At this moment, the final approval from the Broads Authority for this ambitious transformation is already waiting.
This business is by no means unique in its financial troubles as multiple businesses on the Broads are facing extreme difficulties during these troubled economic times.
