Coypu sailing dinghy
A year or so back, I bought an early Coypu sailing dinghy from a couple who had owned it for 20 or so years. During the time that I have had the dinghy & been working on it I have tried to find out a bit about the dinghies but there is not much information about them out there on the internet. From the small makers plate on the boat it was made by Dawn-Craft & it is sail number 45 - if it is the original number! Is there anyone around who maybe worked at Dawn-Craft that remembers these being made & what year they were made from & roughly how many were made each year? From what I have seen they were maybe made from the early 60`s onwards by various yards. Are there any adverts that are available that show the rigs etc.? My own dinghy showed the name "No Kidding" when I bought it & when I removed the layers of paint from the transom the outline of the original (?) name could be seen - "Malinda" with the Broads Registration "T705". Does anyone have any photos or knowledge of it please? I know that these boats were made for sail training mostly & often led a hard life but I wonder whether this one was bought for private use maybe. Any information would be great to hear before it all gets lost in the mists of time! Thanks in advance for any information at all.
