I have read elsewhere that the same boat is still there far in excess of the 24hr sign.

Well, you are quite right, as the subject is being discussed on the other forum and I see Paladine is out and about with his camera again.
However, it amazes me that people pay so much interest to the problem now the sign has been erected and yet the issue remained ignored pretty much up until then.
It demonstrates the all too familiar story of people always being first to be second.
When something does finally begin to happen, then the all too familiar faces emerge like petulant school kids nearly peeing their pants, almost craving attention. It is really quite bizarre and almost sinister by nature.
The fact of the matter is forget the fact that certain boats have exceeded the 24 hour mooring restriction, how about focusing on the fact that they have been there for months bringing a PUBLIC mooring to gridlock.
You will also notice that the sign is a little dubious too, as it does not have any authority, or reference to one on it in any shape of form.
It actually looks more like a crowdfunded sign by local residents, which at the end of the day will not help the situation.
If the Broadland council are now claiming, or designating responsibility for themselves? then they should make that damn clear on the signage.
I would also recommend that they take the extreme steps like those of Thorpe (may not be current situation anymore) and actually post a telephone number, which you are to call asking for authorisation to moor there. Firstly, it takes away the need for personnel from the council to patrol the mooring all day and also tells them who is there. If such troublemakers turn up then the council can deny permission, why? because they have stuck a tolled, or untolled boat there for the past few months.

In addition, due to the fact that the mooring has not be maintained and actually does not even have any mooring posts, then it would be a safe prediction that most boats will now use the new sign as just that, a mooring post. Which means it will probably fall to the same destiny as the previous one.

Now at the end of the day, how about this? ;)

New mooring posts and a sign that warns people to keep fluid like the river, or the only thing that will be flowing is money out of their wallet to pay mooring fines.....see how quickly that staithe stays free and open for the public then.

Well, Stalham Staithe remains blocked by overstaying boats leaving roughly two places for everyone else.
Nice one folks! Clearly no shortage of the selfish B**star* gene in that pool
