Broads Authority & Stalham Staithe

Post by Miles »

Stalham Staithe has been clear for a few days apart from the Broads Authority who I understand have been replacing the wooden planks on the key heading.

I have been informed this morning that the Broads Authority boat has now left.

Got to say it, the work that has been done to the staithe over the past few weeks/months is really quite impressive.

Only problem is the most predictable of outcomes is likely to occur within the next couple of days and I just hope the powers that be can now finally keep the staithe mooring fluid like the rivers and how it should be.

Bit off topic but I've passed your boat a couple of times over the past couple of weeks and I must say you have certainly restored her river presence.
She's looking fine.
I remember some chap saying he used to own her..
Bet he wishes he still did. :D

Nay, I've had my time with "Glenmore" and loved every minute of it. After I sold her ( for a hefty price) she seemed to suffer an extended period of neglect and deteriorated dreadfully. I was so shocked to see the state of her when she appeared for sale. I'm just so pleased that she passed into such safe and skilled hands and really is looking a treat. Well done David.

Yes he has done well. Not sure how he finds the time but she looks bloody gorgeous.

I have not been able to deal with the frustration of going down to Stalham Staithe to get some shopping at Tescos and facing gridlock from the over stayers. Just had too much hassle and wasted trips and wasted fuel.
I am very curious if the Broads Authority have taken over the mooring yet? Does anyone know at all?

Thanks guys for the lovely comments on Glenmore, hopefully first week in April (weather permitting) she will be coming out of the water so I can get the hull painted and anti fouled still along way to go yet before the woodwork is completed, as for time or lack of it atm as I am flat out with working on airports we spend most of the time when moored doing something to her, this winter we have been varnishing the interior.

I heard last evening that Stalham TC are still awaiting confirmation from Land Registry that they are the Registered Owner before they can sign a agreement with BA to allow 24 Hour Mooring Regulations to be implemented

That's a terrible shame and I don't even bother going in the boat anymore to do a Tesco's run as I know they will be sat there selfishly hogging the mooring like they have done for the past three years.
