Did you know that the wherry Maud was raised from Ranworth Broad in 1981.

When was she sunk there and why ?

Loads were sunk.
Salhouse Broad probably has the clearer aerial photographs showing the outline of these mighty vessels.
In some ways it might be a blessing in disguise, as although they have been down a while and will be minging, the wood is better under the water than on top in terms of preservation.
I forget the term but it keeps the critters out I think but I am guessing.
One day with a big lottery grant, these magnificent vessels might be raised and restored and take their true place in history for future generations.

I was always under the impression that they were sunk during WW2 ,with mast above the surface to prevent the enemy from landing on the broads.
