Whilst cleaning out this heater matrix earlier today I was curious to notice someone pulling strange faces nearby.
Clearly keyed in by the shape of the holes inside the heater matrix of a boat engine.
Rather curious by people's reactions, I got several people throughout the week to look at the shapes and see if they too had an odd reaction.
It would appear that most people are reactive to these shapes or clusters and although it may not class as being trypophobic, it is a weird one all the same.
Trypophobia is an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. It is not officially recognized as a mental disorder, but may be diagnosed as a specific phobia if excessive fear and distress occur. People may express only disgust to trypophobic imagery.
