The water doesn't appear to respond to even the tides.
If the River Ant was modified to have more narrow and then wide areas in sequences in the actual rivers not the actual lakes then it would create a constant current which it lacks.
Clearer water and less flooding.
That creates a high and low pressure which causes constant current.
Ask any pilot.
