Ever wondered why Stalham Staithe is so neglected and nobody wants to deal with it?

The simple answer is no single agency owns it or has the rights to it.

Read for yourself.

If you want a quick information read up?

Scroll through this and go to Stalham Staithe at the end of the attachment. :D

No, it does not.
The original purpose of a public staithe was to unload and load.
There is no right for local residents to moor indefinitely...that is a fallacy.
My advice to boaters is to moor up, unload, load and disembark..... why change a system which obviously worked well....till the railways

Who polices overstayers on public staithes?
Or perhaps the question should be who’s supposed to.

If the BA have control of it then they will but Stalham is not under their jurisdiction.
I think it would be an excellent crowd funding project as could be turned into something more viable that would help the local community rather than bring it to gridlock.
