DANGER OF FLOWER POT CANDLE HEATERS

Post by NBF »

DANGER OF FLOWER POT CANDLE HEATERS.

Candle heaters are terracotta pots that use tea lights as a source of heat to combat the cold and also the cost of living crisis. However, they come with great caution as they can be extremely dangerous. Each tea light generates around 40 watts of heat, which can quickly turn into a bomb. The intense heat created by the tea lights causes the wax to melt and the paraffin to ignite, causing a fire. To avoid this, tea lights must be kept at least eight centimetres apart.

One user recounts a fire that broke out in their yacht caused by the wax leaking out of the terracotta pot and igniting the paraffin wax inside. The flames reached high enough to melt a hook on the boat, causing significant damage.

Despite their effectiveness in combating condensation, candle heaters should never be used with multiple tea lights or left unattended. The heat generated is so intense that the pot and the bolt become extremely hot, making it dangerous to touch. In addition, the possibility of a fire erupting within the liquid wax is extremely high.

In conclusion, while candle heaters may seem aesthetically pleasing, they are very dangerous and should be used with caution. It's important to only use one tea light at a time and never leave the device unattended. The user who made the video had a lucky escape and urges others not to make the same mistake.
