Firing Up Time

Post by Dances With Otters » November 19th, 2017, 4:08 pm

It's winter now and today was clear blue skies all day long. It's lovely but as soon as the sun sets beyond my horizon, then the temperature plummets. This is wood burner o'clock.

We're due some milder temperatures at night for the next few days, so you might not have to light it quite so early this week.

Ours looks like this, very effective, but somehow doesn't the romantic appeal of a wood stove.

I assume that's a diesel heater?
I would like to have both ideally as a burner can take time to clean and get going. It's also an issue if you have to leave the boat for any length of time, as you basically can't.
Ideally, in the morning one could crack on the diesel heater and in the evening when you know you are going to be on your boat, then it's time for that one.

Must admit, with the timer option, it comes on before we get up so its always cosy first thing, such luxury

A mate of mine has webasto/ebertype warm air heating and, rather cleverly I thought, has managed to set it up with a wifi connection and can switch it on from the pub as they shout last orders!
