Slipways

Post by Apotts » February 18th, 2019, 11:41 am

Hello all,
I’ve just bought my first boat....a 17ft microplus. Where are the best slipways and the charges etc?

Wayford Bridge charge a tenner and you can access it all the time.
Sutton has one but you might find it a bit cluttered at times as it also serves a working boatyard.

Ok, thanks. I’m a tad concerned as it’ll be my first attempt

The only thing to fear on the Norfolk Broads is the hire boats.

The green book gives a complete list, but not prices
http://www.thegreenbook.org.uk/
once on the site:
Click Greenbook,
Click boat launching and recovery.

Horning's public slip is next to the Swan INN Beer garden, get the keys from the Newsagents for £10 launch boat, return Key get £5 back. Good slipway I've used it several times. Parking can be difficult, it's free on the parish road if there is room, if not, it's pay in the Swan inn car park.

Note you''ll need insurance, and Broads Tax to be on the broads.

oh there is a short visit toll as well.

Regularly launch at sutton with a 14ft boat, can be a bit awkward sometimes but never had a massive problem. Use Thurne slip way in the summer, quite steep and can be shallow on a low tide, honesty box alongside!
