Broads Authority Clamping Down On Overstayers

Post by Dances With Otters » April 18th, 2018, 7:35 am

I was told by a ranger that the Broads Authority were clamping down on overstayers this year.
I was told this at Sutton Staithe.
However, this particular boat has been here 10 days, yes you read that right and has not broken down and there is someone onboard all the time.
Now, when I get referred to as a legendary overstayer and get an over zealous ranger giving me a ticket for breaking down on a mooring with a knackered propeller...........I take great offence to it.
I admittedly on occasions have overstayed and especially in the winter when the waterways are empty.
Even in the height of summer I might have overstayed on occasions, yes it is true, I might have squeezed another day out of it. I know, I am the only one, shame on me. ;)
However, it really makes my blood boil when liveaboards are tagged as hogging the moorings when you have people blatantly taking the **** not for just a few hours more but 10 days????????
And guess what?
He has no tickets, no visits from rangers and no nutty locals taking photos of him and emailing them to the Broads Authority.
So today, I am going to be the nutty local taking photos.
Beat you to it Paladine, or did I?
Also the Broom at the end has been there four days, or did you miss that one too?

I trust you have sent a copy of your post to the BA.

They also seem to turn a blind eye to the Brundall Navy mooring over every weekend at Brammerton Woods end for some reason.

Umm!!my initial thoughts. However, the BA are a public body and if they value their jobs I doubt they would go down that line.

Well it didn't stop the M.P.s. In fact I think they really got white nostrils over the expense scandal.

I contacted the BA and begged the question of why this boat and an other appear to be just overstaying.

With regard to the matters at Sutton , and I quote:-

The Ranger Teams are quite often in the process of enforcement, which can sometimes be lengthy, but there is no visible sign that the process is happening.

So may be things are afoot anyway.

Engine running and clearly not a breakdown as would have been moved to the end to free up the water and electric points.
Locals now think we have a protest taking place as there remains no other reasons.
How bizarre.

Come on chaps?
Can't have one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.
Slap a fine on the antisocial and keep the waterways free for others.

What happens if a boat needs water with him moored there
Reckon I'd be moving him on
