In this photo you will see a dead swan floating in front of a nest on the left and a swan sitting presumably on eggs on the nest to the right.
When we had the beast from the east, the swan on the left died. The body is still there as you can see.
Since then, what must be the female swan has rebuilt another nest adjacent and is now sitting on the eggs awaiting the delivery of cygnets.
Swans are believed to pair for life.
These forthcoming cygnets will arrive with their father's corpse floating adjacent to the original nest.
Rather morbid you might say but what is touching is the fact that the female swan did not relocate but chose to remain next to her former swan partner.
After seeing this I am inclined to believe they do pair for life.
