Sutton Staithe Mud Bath

Post by High Seas » February 20th, 2018, 6:08 am

I called in to Sutton Staithe recently to raise my mast and I must admit the staithe is a total bog. The mud is so intense that I had to lay a tarpaulin down around the boat so I could get on and off without getting in a right state.
Evidently, we have had some rain but let's not forget it rains in the summer too, this is England. I honestly can not remember ever seeing the grassed area so wet. It is literally flooded and muddy from the water's edge all the way to the road, it's a bog and it just does not seem to want to drain away.
Certainly a winter of flooding this year but far from cold and I have seen more boats out this winter than ever before.
Good on you!🎖️

I stayed at Sutton Staithe on Christmas Eve, and I have to say it was water logged then! I suppose, 2 months of people walking in a sodden lawn won’t do it much good. The strange thing is, we didn’t have that much by way of flooding there before Christmas. I might go up and have a look this weekend 👍
