Wroxham Bridge Warning 5.75 Feet & Strong Flows.

Post by Dances With Otters » December 29th, 2017, 3:52 pm

I just had a nasty collision at Wroxham Bridge.
I could not get under as the whole place is flooded.
I went to pull in the dyke at the staithe and came in slowly as there is a vintage house boat there and the bottle neck currents pushed my boat in to the nasty corner piece at the Wroxham Hotel.
I thought I had put a hole in the side of the boat but it has taken the paint clean off and luckily no stress cracks.

Odd thing is I came up here primarily to buy some epoxy, ironic that as I am going to need it now. :o

Not at all.
I have never seen the water flowing through so quick. A load of swans came through yesterday like they were on a baggage conveyor belt, it looked so funny.
I was more worried about the manageress coming out of the hotel as it made such a bang that I thought I had demolished the whole heading.
Not good but it can be fixed and unfortunately the shops don't appear to be open so I had best sit the weekend out.

It used to be that Lathams only ever closed on Christmas Day but was open the rest of the year.

I used to like wondering around there but I was not too impressed this time round. Food was quite pricey and really small selection for such a large shop. All the tools etc were pretty blow quality stuff. Be nice to have some bigger shops on the river some place.

I can get under 6.25 feet with my mast flat across the boat. For 3 days I tried to get under Wroxham Bridge and had to admit defeat. It's a full moon but even still the Broads has water level issues.

It's low pressure ATM which also affects water levels quite a lot we can clear 6' 2" with everything down.
