Re: Royal Navy Superstition

Bad luck to have a woman aboard too. Can't sail on a Friday or a Sunday. Changing the name of a ship is also bad luck. Can't think of any more at the moment.... Some will come to me.... Another saying; "Cold enough to freeze balls off a brass monkey" was something to do with cannon balls in a frame ...

Avon 3m sport rib for swaps

If anyone wants a 3 metre RIB- it's a proper RIB with the double skinned GRP floor. Good condition in that she has no leaks but could do with a bit of a paint ( I may do this myself in the summer) Her Manufacturers serial number is still legible and has extra ropes round the sides and oar fitments. ...

New Years resolutions

What are your New Years resolutions gonna be? Mine; 1) Stop worrying about what I think people are thinking when they drive past me glaring! 2) Do the bloody engine mounts! 3) Insulate below the bunk. 4) Stop doing things that I know will aggravate my spinal injury! 5) Go on holiday- Alderny and see...

Re: How Not To Be A Liveaboard.

Reason would be better, but I no speak English very well sometimes especially on days I've had a large meal and a bit of Port ( the drink not the side ) I post what my mind thinks and you get my drift even with incorrect words, lack of punctuation, correct spelling and what my phone decides to repla...

Re: Collision Black Spots

Re: Collision Black Spots

I must say as an addition to the post above, that John at Herbert Woods replaced my burst fenders and smashed horshoe bouy and got one of their seamstresses to make the nice new rear canopy canvases to replace the one ripped by their hire boat.... It's a shame I didn't notice the sprung bulkhead in ...

Re: Collision Black Spots

I got hit at Thurne mouth on the moorings on the starboard side, rusty quay heading bits, before the bend that the Bure makes heading towards Acle! Strange considering the river was empty if all boats and it's at least 300' wide there.... But obviously the Herbert Woods day boat reg no 543Y-6 had di...

Re: How Not To Be A Liveaboard.

One of the people posting under this topic said there is now a large amount of rubbish at Sutton staith and some of the boats that formally occupied the site that High Seas photographed are now residing at Sutton staith which I believe to be controlled by the BA and is not private land so therefore ...

Re: How Not To Be A Liveaboard.

Well, if somone can persuade the BA to bring a skip to the nearest mooring, and lend me an aluminium skiff, I would volunteer to go clear it up.....if the boat in question is being prosecuted for fly tipping surely part of the punishment should be to go clear it up? As you said earlier, if that's on...
